Net nanny reddit10/10/2023 So you can sit on your ass, make 40k a year, and die? Also many high profile families use agencies, not app platforms. You want a 80-100K job, make sure your resume is grammatically correct, error free. Along with education, who are you? What is your child care philosophy? You are a whole package. ( I am also great with children lol) but branding is everything in 2020. I let families know this, because who wouldn’t want a previous Beverly Hills nanny. I have worked from Beverly Hills to Atlanta. Set your rate, be picky about your families. I am sure it is easier for first time nannies to land a higher paying job with a degree but if you don’t have a degree, experience, experience, experience will take you where you want to go. A degree goes a long way, but not always necessary. Presentation, professionalism and etiquette is very important with high profile families. ![]() You sound like you have excellent experience. I am unsure of your ages or years of experience. I’m proud of our dang big girl jobs! I wouldn’t have it any other way.Įdit: To all you male nannies - I’m proud of our big kid jobs! I see you. I just wanted to say to each and every one of you beautiful nannies. We nannies might even cook, clean, run errands for parents, take care of pets, etc. We are with those babies every single day, caring for them and helping them learn and grow. It really frustrates me when people ask things like, “When are you getting a big girl job?” or “What career do you want when you grow up/this job is over?”.īEING A NANNY IS A CAREER! It’s a dang big girl job! We are providing a safe, loving, nurturing environment for little ones while parents work. Also, pay is on the lower end of the scale to deal with 2 children, possibly a 3rd when the Kindergartener is home, all while dealing with autism and ADHD - that could be a whole different reddit post! Wait hold up - did I read that right?! They need an new nanny while their current nanny is transitioning to her “BIG GIRL JOB?!”. Background check and driving record to be checked during interview.” Must have prior nanny experience, infant experience, and experience with autism and ADHD is a huge plus! Pay is very competitive at $12/hr. Mostly you will be caring for our 6-month-old and 2.5-year-old. We are flexible with hours (except Tuesday & Wednesday afternoons - must be available 2-6). “We are looking for a part-time nanny to join our family 2-3 days/week and eventually full time, as our current nanny transitions to her “big girl job”. Here’s a gem I wanted to share with y’all! So, on my downtime I like to casually browse just to see what jobs/hours/pays are being offered. In case you're not familiar with the concept: Guaranteed hours doesn't mean "we guarantee at least 40 hours a week so if we don't need you one day you can make up the hours babysitting on a Friday night," guaranteed hours means you guarantee a set schedule, Mon-Fri 9-5 or whatever it is, and if you don't need her one day (or let her go early one day, etc) you still pay her for that time, and evening/ additional babysitting is paid on top of that. Not sure what flair to put - so I just put vent! Also many nannies will want to be paid on the books, this means you pay employer taxes and issue a W-2, and you are responsible for paying overtime on all hours over 40 worked in each week. Many families offer additional benefits like health insurance stipend, IRA contribution, etc. ![]() If you aren't happy with them, advertise the job again at a higher wage.Īlso don't forget that nannies require some benefits (guaranteed hours, paid holidays and sick days, at least one week of paid vacation of nanny's choice per year, etc). My best advice: if you have a few months before you need nanny to start, advertise the job on the lower end, say $18-19/hr, and see what kind of applicants you get. I think you're looking at $18-25/hr, and definitely on the higher end if you want someone that is reliable, experienced, etc. SoCal has some of the highest nanny wages in the country.
