Best projector for outdoor movies 2d and 3d10/13/2023 ![]() But note that you might want to store even outdoor screens inside for winter or before a storm. For anything short of permanent setup, room-to-room portables let you minimize how much you need to carry back and forth before and after every movie night. With everything set up, you can just open the door to let the projector light up the screen. If even $300 is more than you want to invest in a projector, take a look at our related story with tips for putting on a backyard movie night without breaking the bank.įor permanent setups, only the projector, the video source, and additional audio components need to be protected from the weather, and that can be easy if you have, say, an enclosed Florida room with a sliding door to the outside. Note also that the price range for these models runs starts at $299 list at this writing, but given the current inflationary pressures of our post-pandemic era, the entry cost could rise. But keep in mind that you still have the option of using virtually any projector you like outdoors. We've also thrown in a portable mini projector or two-defined in part by a smaller size and a more limited audio system. There are even some designed particularly for outdoor use, complete with some level of water and drop resistance. They also typically have features like auto-focus to help you set up quickly, and most offer streaming, so you can skip attaching a video source, as long as you keep close enough to your house so you can connect to your network by Wi-Fi. In addition to being light enough to carry over short distances, room-to-room portables include robust audio designed to offer both high enough volume and quality so you won't have to lug a separate sound system outside, too. Most of these models fall in a category we call "room-to-room portables." But what moves conveniently to another room also moves conveniently to the backyard. We'll take you through our favorite tested picks for outdoor projectors, followed by a detailed buying guide to what to look for. Virtually any projector on the planet can turn an outside wall into a cinema, but it wasn't long ago that almost none had all the right features to make it easy. Yearn to watch movies in the backyard-whether bundled up with the patio heater turned on, or enjoying balmy evening temps in spring or summer? It's easier than you might think. Mac and cheese montage portland oregon10/13/2023 ![]() That leaves them especially vulnerable to COVID-related supply chain disruptions. Due to a lack of storage space, food cart operators have to supply themselves day-by-day. While food cart owners don’t have the same regulations to navigate that restaurants do, there are unique challenges. But also everybody is doing a good job with wearing their own masks.” Easier, but not easy But she said her customers have been so nice and so compliant with the rules, she’s glad to be back on the job.Įlaine Escobar works at the Taco City food truck in the Hillsdale food cart pod in Portland, Ore.Įscobar said, “It was pretty scary at first. Because she has family members that are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19, she was afraid at first to come back to work. In addition to the mask and distance requirements, there can’t be more than 100 diners in any restaurant in Oregon at a time.Įlaine Escobar is a cook at Taco City. Restaurant patrons have to abide by a longer list of rules. But I think it’s important to support people during these times,” Maneloveg said. “It’s still a little weird having to wear a mask and talk to somebody behind a glass. Rachel Maneloveg of Tigard, who was there enjoying a chicken bowl from Taco City, said it’s no big deal. They all wore masks when they ordered, and their order takers talked to them from behind a pane of glass. On a recent Monday in the Hillsdale food cart pod, the lunch time crowd consisted of a smattering of customers sitting far apart at picnic tables that used to be more tightly packed. “Food carts are now filling that niche.” Easier to follow the rules “Some of them had some of their busiest days ever during this pandemic because there’s such a limit now on the amount of food available to the public,” Martin said. Jeff Martin, an environmental health supervisor for the Multnomah County Health Department, said food carts have been pretty much able to operate uninterrupted during the pandemic. By contrast, the number of permit applications for restaurants is 50% less. Multnomah County said the number of applications for mobile food unit permits is about the same as this time last year. Portland’s food carts are hanging on during the pandemic in a way that restaurants aren’t. “I do think that we’re uniquely positioned to make it through a downturn like this and in the strange environment we’re in, because we are designed for takeout,” said Leah Tucker, founder of the Oregon Mobile Food Association. Now, with sit-down dining severely limited, take-out options are king again. The big Portland food cart boom came more than a decade ago during the Great Recession, when the key to survival for food purveyors was to sell something fast and cheap that Portlanders could take back to their offices. Industry observers say food cart operators by their very nature have to be nimble. “It’s a lot different than just running the day-to-day in a kitchen,” Ingwood said. Also gone are the famous aluminum foil creatures the restaurant wrapped its po’ boys in. Ingwood had to pare down his menu to the top dozen or so most popular dishes. “If you’re going to go out of business because of this whole pandemic thing, this might be your only option rather than throwing in the towel.” “I think it’s the only move right now for any restaurant that’s trying to survive,” Ingwood said. ![]() He licensed the Montage name from the owners and grabbed the last open spot in the Hawthorne Asylum food cart pod. Best 308 muzzle brake for accuracy10/13/2023 ![]() The only potential plus I see for savage is aftermarket support. The stocks I have seen look pretty good for synthetic while not kevlar or carbon fiber-pretty darn good. It is a better action with reduced bolt lift. The odds are you will do better than 1moa and more important the Tikka is a better rifle. I would get the Tikka based on reputation alone. Here's the spring sale code for 10% off all of our in-stock muzzle brakes. All of them loved the Jetblast and ordered follow on brakes for other rifles. I sent several off to some folks on USA Shooting and all of them started out by saying how muzzle brakes are awful, theyv'e never seen a brake that is truly shootable, just deal with the recoil, etc. However we are the only one that is designed with a specific layout to cancel blast to the shooter's face and avoid putting muzzle concussion on the head/neck/shoulders of a shooter. ![]() ![]() Our recoil reduction is second to none on the list above. The PVA series of brakes is designed around the concept that a brake is not just recoil reduction, it is overall "shootability". Concussion is really bad for our anatomy and repeated concussion from muzzle blast (while tolerable) has substantial long term effects as well as the immediate effect of hindering our ability to shoot. Most of our heads are soft tissue, especially the parts we use to aim a rifle (eyes). The other part of the consideration is how much muzzle blast is directed onto the shooter's head/face/eyes/etc. Reducing overall recoil also reduces muzzle rise. Recoil reduction is part of the equation.

The participation rate in organized learning one year before the official primary entry age rose steadily in the years before the COVID-19 pandemic, from 69 per cent in 2010 to 75 per cent in 2020 but with considerable variation between countries (with the rate ranging from a figure as low as 13 per cent to nearly 100 per cent). Early indications from low-income countries based on phone surveys point to a small decline in attendance upon a return to school but a larger increase in repetition, which may increase dropout rates in coming years.ĭata from 73 (mostly low- and middle-income) countries for the period of 2013-2021, indicate that about 7 in 10 children 3 and 4 years of age are developmentally on track, with no significant differences by child’s sex. It is too early to predict the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on completion. The proportion of young people completing upper secondary school increased from 54 per cent in 2015 to 58 per cent in 2020, with completion slowing down relative to progress in the preceding five-year period. ![]() ![]() School closures have affected girls, children from disadvantaged backgrounds, those living in rural areas, children with disabilities and children from ethnic minorities more than their peers. This generation of children could lose a combined total of $17 trillion in lifetime earnings in present value. It is estimated that 147 million children missed more than half of their in-class instruction over the past two years. ![]() School closures brought on by the pandemic have had devastating consequences for children’s learning and well-being. Most education systems in the world have been severely affected by education disruptions and have faced unprecedented challenges. The COVID-19 outbreak has caused a global education crisis. Target 4.c: Globally, in 2020, over 14% of teachers are still not qualified according to national norms, with little improvement since 2015. For other facilities such as computer facilities and the provision of disability adapted infrastructure, figures are substantially lower, with around 50% of primary schools with access. In 2020, approximately a quarter of primary schools globally do not have access to basic services such as electricity, drinking water and basic sanitation facilities. Target 4.a: Basic school infrastructure is far from universal. Participation is substantially higher among youth aged 15-24 (40%-50%), compared to those aged 25-55 (only 5% for most regions). Target 4.3: Among 131 countries with data from 2017 onwards, on average approximately one in six youth and adults aged 15-64 recently participated in formal or non-formal education and training. Target 4.2: Participation rate in organized learning one year before the official primary entry age has stagnated at around 75% since 2015, still far from the target of ensuring that all girls and boys have access to quality pre-primary education by 2030. Furthermore, learning losses due to COVID-related school closures have been documented in 4 out of 5 of the 104 countries that have carried out such studies. Looking closely at reading levels at the end of primary school, for which trend data cover 34% of the world’s children, the analysis shows that global learning levels showed no progress between 2015-2019. Even before the onset of COVID19, these rates had slowed down relative to progress in 2010–15. ![]() Target 4.1: Between 20, the school completion rate increased from 85% to 87% in primary, from 74% to 77% in lower secondary and from 54% in 2015 to 58% in upper secondary education. To deliver SDG4, education systems must be re-imagined, and education financing must become a priority national investment. An estimated 84 million children and young people will still be out of school and an estimated 300 million student will still not have the basic numeracy and literacy skills they need to succeed in life. If no additional measures are taken, only one in six countries will meet SDG4 and achieve universal access to quality education by 2030. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the world was already off-track to achieve its education targets. |
